I haven't seen him in person since the 1970s, but I think that Dylan these days is a hit-or-miss proposition. His best years are behind him, but he can still inspire -- sometimes. I read a recent interview with him in which he pretty much admitted this; he said that, touring all the time as he does, after so many years, he just can't guarantee that every show will be a good one. Sometimes his voice seems to be beyond redemption, sometimes he just doesn't seem to have a clue. I would guess that you might get a wide range of responses from people who have seen him recently.I look at Dylan like I used to look at Muhammad Ali after he came back to the ring. He wasn't the fighter he had been, and sometimes you were actually embarrassed for him. But just when you were ready to dismiss him as a has-been, he somehow managed to dazzle you one more time.
