The big difference with digital recordings now as far as I am converned is the amount of dynamic range a 24 bit system is capable of. You can really go from very quiet to very loud without background noise. Loads of head room.


Doesn't matter if you heavish band bound for radio as it will be compressed to death at the mastering stage anyway.

But if you have first hand experience of a pair of Schoeps, Gefells etc oing through really good pre amps into a quality 24 bit recorder you will hear a HUGE diffrence over a cassette even the ridiculously expensive Revox one I had in the 80's
