Thread Name: Lyr Req: Leitrim the Pride of the West
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Pride of the West
You can hear Kevin Prendergast's LEITRIM THE PRIDE OF THE WEST at YouTube. Here's my best effort at transcribing it. I think most of the places where I stumbled are place names.

1. All you who love scen'ry with me come along
To the grand county Leitrim of story and song,
With its lakes of pure crystal and valleys so fair,
And its heather-capped mountains of beautiful there(?).

2. The high hills of ... I'd show you around
Where the call of the woodcock and ... surround
Where the thrush and the blackbird are singin' so gay
Round the historic places of fame ...

3. Where of picturesque scen'ry there's none can compare
With the pleasant surroundings of sweet ...
Where ... castle is safe from decay
And there's lovely glencarr just a few miles away.

4. With ...
And ... and lovely ...
And the hill where ... so clear
To recall to our mem'ry the ... year.

5. We'd walk by the Shannon, the gem of the west
And you'll see where the ... lies at rest
... of renown
Where our boys fought for Ireland any many fell down.

6. Then I'd take you to ... and there you will find
The grand ancient abbey ...
Where our forefathers prayed that our flag be unfurled
And our sons preach the gospel all over the world.

7. Where of fishin' you won't find a place in the land
To compare with ... of ... and ...
And the people of Leitrim are friendly and kind
And to be of assistance they're always inclined.

8. Our county's well known for its ... dells,
For its beautiful scen'ry we all love so well,
And we welcome all tourists who look for the best
To come and see Leitrim, the pride of the west,
My own county Leitrim, the pride of the west.
