My first phone had one of those composer things on it and I could allocate different rings to different people for both calls and text messages. Manitas's tone was 'Sorry the day I was married', whilst work was 'chain gang'.

My new phone, although it's the same make as my first, no longer has the composer feature but will take midi files so I've been able to assign different tunes. To my lasting regret and eternal confusion, it doesn't allocate individual tones to text messages. In the absence of a good recording of 'sorry the day, Manitas is now 'Captain Pugwash/Speed the plough' and my text message alert is a recording of him snoring.
