Sonnet 28/02/08                                  MLXIX

I wonder how you are, but cannot know
When you so silent stay: Am I to dream
If you are happy? Might muse some sign show
Of heart's desires found, to past hopes redeem?
Have you the time to tell if you now smile,
And what might hold attention of your eyes?
Will you share dreams, or offer just a while
When I might pretend you still think me wise?
I ask that you remember I still care
For all dream offered, and my muse inspired.
I cannot but regret I do not share
The thoughts and visions I so once desired.
All past has given are words, dreams, and hope:
Without muse, how can any poet cope?
