Maybe. But I can never listen to "Amazing Grace" by the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards without getting tears in my eyes. It fosters thoughts of Thermopylae, Dieppe, Ia Drang Valley, Juno Beach, Anzio, Ypres, Dien Bien Phu: places where people have given all they have to give for others simply because their leaders--their countries--asked them.

I despise war; I venerate courage. When I listen, I sometimes wonder if I would have what it took for them to do what they did on behalf of their friends and comrades. And I pray to my God that I will never have to find out.
