Often known as the London Derriere. (Derry aire)

A maudlin song if there ever was one though the tune is pretty. Frederic Edward Weatherly (1848-1929) penned it. Edwardian, Victorian and Georgian poet.

"And I will hear though I am sleeping".......I don't think so, it's a bit much.

This theme does crop up in Irish popular music though. Sentimentality reminiscent of
"Mother Machree" and "My Yiddische Mama". (Don't cry in the Green Beer).
