Here in Connecticut I just read a story about a compulsive gambler suing the large casino nearby because they did not stop the gambler from losing large amounts of money.
In an ideologically related lawsuit, a couple of years ago, a teenager was drunk and riding on the hood (or roof) of a moving car; the car went near the police station. The teen fell and suffered a severe head injury, and his parents sued the police for not stopping him from doing something stupid and dangerous.
The same depressing story, of people who do not accept responsibility for their own mistakes, AND of people who think any mishap may be their chance to become rich.
