Thread Name: Origins: One More River to Cross
Subject: LYR: ADD: Many Rivers To Cross
This thread title made me think of the song "Many River To Cross".
There probably is no connection whatsoever with the ballad "Many Rivers To Cross" and the song "One More River To Cross"

However, here's the lyrics to that song:

MANY RIVERS TO CROSS

Many rivers to cross
But I can't seem to find my way over
Wandering I am lost
As I travel along the white cliffs of dover

Many rivers to cross
And it's only my will that keeps me alive
I've been licked, washed up for years
And I merely survive because of my pride

And this loneliness won't leave me alone
It's such a drag to be on your own
My woman left me and she didn't say why
Well, I guess I'll have to cry

Many rivers to cross
But just where to begin I'm playing for time
There have been times I find myself
Thinking of committing some dreadful crime

Yes, I've got many rivers to cross
But I can't seem to find my way over
Wandering, I am lost
As I travel along the white cliffs of Dover

Yes, I've got many rivers to cross
And I merely survive because of my will...

[The title given on this lyric page for Jimmy Cliff songs is
"Too Many Rivers To Cross". However, I think the correct title is "Many Rivers To Cross". I don't know who the composer of this song is or how old this song is}.

Here's a link to a YouTube video of reggae superstar Jimmy Cliff singing "Many Rivers To Cross"

The 1989 video features scenes of Jamaica.

Here's a note from another YouTube video of this song:

"The song "Many Rivers To Cross" is a very powerful ballad, and has been covered by many Bands/Artistes including Van Morrison and UB40."
YouTube also has a 1969 video of Joe Crocker singing that song. Here's that link:
