Thread Name: Abbey Inn, Kirkstall, Leeds 22nd March
Subject: RE: Abbey Inn, Kirkstall, Leeds 22nd March
The Abbey is down and on Pollard Lane, which runs down from the Leeds and Bradford Road if you are heading towards Leeds. It's on the Left just after the Post Office and before a Pub (Sorry I can't remember the name of the Pub) if you turn the WRONG WAY to the right that is Newlay Lane.

Now this is a bit strange because if you approach from Horsforth (The Fleece) going towards Leeds you can turn Right and go down Newlay Lane. However approaching from Horsforth in a Car will mean that you have to Cross the Weak Bridge over the River Aire on Foot and Newlay Lane has changed it's name to Pollard Lane. I'm not sure of the distance between this Closed River Aire Bridge and the also closed cars Railway Bridge but the Abbey is just the other side.

Perhaps I should mention the Hump back Bridge over the Canal and the fact that part of Newlay Lane on the Bramley Side is a single-track road with passing places. Now I will leave the Post Office to decide if the Abbey Inn is in Bramley, Kirkstall or New Leeds. The directions to the Abbey Inn are not something, to be honest, that I have ever thought about having lived in Leeds most of my adult life. In fact if you ask directions to the Abbey Inn locally I'm pretty certain they would tell you to go down Newlay Lane.

Now having totally confused everyone including myself I would recommend having a look at the Abbey Inn on Google Earth you will discover plenty of Footpaths and walks. Some of the footpaths possibly due to the Building of the canals bridges and then the Railway Bridges in different places have never developed over the years in to Roads. If you pay the Abbey Inn a visit via Pollard Lane please drive carefully as the Wildlife of Bramley tends to dash out to crossing the road showing very little road cense.

Oh and just to make matters worse the Leeds and Bradford mentioned don't go to Leeds or Bradford.
