Let me preface the following by saying I think this is a very bad idea.

The advance stems from the discovery that low doses of anaesthetics can block the formation of memories associated with emotive images".

I do not think burying pain harder, either chemically or psychically, is the right way to recover from it. The experience is not going to go away because of anaesthesia, is my guess.
