I just had to check out one more thread, and I know this song. I've got the author somewhere, and it is driving me barking mad. I think it might have been Bob Gibson or another big folkie from the 60's. I sang it in youth group conventions when I was a teen-ager and the words are permanently implanted in my brain until the day I die.
I've been searching for an hour that I should have been sleeping and in bed, darn you.
But seriously, I will fid it or find someone who does. I know it was done by Peter Paul and Mary.
