My local is within a mile walk from home. It has a juke box, a pool table, and a 42" plasma sceen TV, with all the football you could wish for.

I am not a soccer fan. The local "joke" about the place is that if you are over 18 you won't be served.

The beer (Everard's) isn't fit to mop the floor with, but that don't matter - the clientele drinks lager.

Speaking of the clientele, it is amusing to watch proceedings of a Saturday evening. The clientele is drunk at 10 pm ; fighting at 11 pm ; throwing up at midnight (there is a chip shop next door) ; and carried
home on a door at 1 pm. And that's just the young women, who have a penchant for baring their Eartha Kitts at regular intervals. Not good for a man my age with high blood pressure.

I am told that A & E is "qeueuing out the door" early Sunday morning.

The nearest folk place is Ye Great Knight at Northampton, a 46 mile round trip from where we live.

Support my local ? Yeah, sure ; three times. I think Georgiansilver, above, has the rights of it ; or, a few friends, a couple of guitars, and a crate.
