Thread Name: Origins: Hush little baby, don't say a word
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Hush little baby, don't say a word
I heard a great version of Hush Little Baby, Don't... on the Prairie Home Companion about a year ago. I don't remember the woman's name, but I think I'm fairly close to having the words accurate. She sang something like:

Hush little baby, Don't you cry,
Papa's(Mama's) gonna bake you a rhubarb pie.
If that rhubarb pie's too sour,
Papa's gonna pick you a pretty flower.
And if that pretty flower wilts,
Papa's gonna build you a pair of stilts.
And if that pair of stilts aren't steady,
Papa's gonna whip you up a bowl of spaghetti.
And if that spaghetti's not al dente,
Papa's gonna give you a horn of plenty.
And if that horn of plenty has the wrong fruit,
Papa's gonna buy you a three piece suit.
And if that suit's the wrong material,
Papa's gonna pour you a bowl of cereal.
And if that cereal's not low carb,
Papa's gonna pick you some more rhubarb.
And if that rhubarb all turns brown,
You'll still be the sweetest little baby in town.

Does the name Inga Swearingen sound familiar?
