Everyone is stopping at a light.
Then people start changing lanes to gain advantage.
Soon one lane is suddenly 40 ft shorter than it was when you started to appraoch the stopped traffic and you have to brake as hard as you can.

...or when the nearly stopped guy changes lanes to save 6 feet and blocks both lanes.

Have you noticed that people's hand is obligated to the cell phone and is now unavailable to use the now vestigal turn signal.

Last week the woman (Andrea Lopez) in front of me was stopped at a light but she was in reverse having just backed up so cross traffic would not hit her.
She stayed in reverse.
I backed up 40 feet not daring to honk.
The light turned green and she peeled out in reverse all the way back to my car and hit it. Fortunetly she did try stopping halway back so the impact was not severe.
She gave me $25 toward an alignment job and I went to a local junk store where I found a $1,000 Australian opal gem set in sterling silver and bought it for $25.
