Thread Name: Lyr Req: Swinging on the Outhouse Door
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Swinging on the Outhouse Door
I learned these lyrics in the 1950's
"And there was Granny
Swinging on the outhouse door
without her nightie
'Coz she had pajamas on"
But this was always stuck on the end of
"Twas a cold winters evening
The guests were all leaving
OLeary was the closing the bar
When he turned to the lady in red and said
Get out you can't stay anymore
She shed a sad tear
In her bucket of beer
As she thought of the cold night ahead
When a gentleman dapper
Stepped out of the crapper
And these are the wordsthat he said
Her mother never told her
The things a young girl shoud know
About the ways of college men
The way they come and go
Mostly go
Now age has taken her beauty
And sin has left its sad scar
So remember you mothers and sisters boys
And let her sleep under the bar
Between the puddles!
And there was Granny
Swinging on the outhouse door
without her nightie
'Coz she had pajamas on"
