The answer is, of course, NOT THESE DAYS. There is a salmonella outbreak in some of the US (possibly Mexico) tomato crop. But there seems to be a connection between tomatoes and sex.

"Salmonella is a genus of rod-shaped Gram-negative enterobacteria that causes typhoid fever, paratyphoid fever, and foodborne illness."

Notice that the enterobacteria are ROD-SHAPED !! Probably more than anyone wanted to know.
