Subject: RE: Mike Harding's Beautiful Music
My Dad was a navigator/bomb aimer who left a reserved occupation in the coalmines to join up. He flew in Wellingtons, Halifaxes and Flying Fortresses at different times. He once said that at the end of his first tour of duty, only two crews in the squadron were left out of the guys he'd started with.... Nearly half the people who served in RAF bomber crews during WW2 didn't survive, around 50,000 -it's a staggering thought.
This is an excellent song my Dad would have loved if he was still around when it came out.
