I had hoped to be at last year's ACSUS conference and was scheduled to give a paper in which I would argue that folk songs from the Britain and Ireland that crossed the Atlantic in the 19th century retain more of their original sound in Canada than they do in America. Honestly....

It was to be a spin off from one I gave in Ottawa a few years ago called 'They took their music with them...' but that one only looked at Canadian versions of English/Scots/Irish songs.
