The Jarrett Family did a lecture/concert in my hall of residence (Conrad Grebel) at U Waterloo in the early '70s. They traced the evolution of the "Gypsy Lady" song throughout the UK then the cross-over to Canada, the USA and, if memory serves, I think they ended up in New Mexico or somesuch place.

See - I remember it still, and I think it was the first time that I realized how traditional music 'works'. Stuck with me, and now that's my job.
