Ron's Folk Music Notebook

Guys, I can't find the playlists for the last two weeks. Am I missing the blindingly obvious, as ever...I usually do, it's a gift. ;-)

AND...I've found Mark Thunderwolf amongst your photos! He's a nice chap, I've 'spoken' to him, over on Myspace, a while back now. I like his outlook on life, and he makes hauntingly lovely music too. He's has the wise words "We are the ones we have been waiting for..." on his page somewhere (blogs?) so I took them over to mine, as I thought they were great.

I've literally just googled those words, to see what came up, and you are so not going to believe this!

This is a short film that Phil Ochs would have been proud of, Bill, I'll bet. Don't get put off when you reach the bit with the animals in, as it has an amazing ending and is what the film is about.

We Are The Ones We Have Been Waiting For

I don't know, sometimes, I feel something a bit spooky is going on here.

I discovered your show, purely because of Bruce Murdoch's music, you being the first guys to play his new CD, and now I'm delving into so many of the singer/songwriters from the 60s, sparked off by Bruce and your shows..and finding myself back in that time when the world was going to change for the better. Finding The Weavers, because of your show..

Now, here we are, back full circle with a film that shows how unbelievably apathetic we've all become, in this dumbed down, Orwellian world, one that tells how WE can change the world once more, if we all come together, open our eyes and think! And I've only found it, because of your 'Traditions' photo page, and Mark's words.

All these paths, leading us through the maze of life.

And if you think it's spooky so far, well, just sit down...because this next bit will blow your socks off!

That film, the one above, made me sit there with my mouth open because...and again, this goes back to Bruce, because of his music, Ron Bankley produced that CD of his, and in Ron I have discovered yet another SUPERBLY INTELLIGENT songwriter!

Below are the words that for me, fit that film so perfectly!

They're from Ron's brilliant 'Insurgent Sun' CD, and Ron's friend, Splitting The Sky is narrating the words from 'Anthen For Dissent' You can hear a few tracks from 'Insurgent Sun' here, and 'The Spell' is pretty damn breathtaking too.

Someone put a blindfold over Ron's eyes, so he can't read this.. ;-) because I'm probably going to embarrass him now, but heck, like Bruce, can this man WRITE songs!!

Global terrorist in our 'freedom and democracy' disguise
As united we stand apathetic and complicit in American terrorism
As united we turn on T.V. to de-sensitise
As united we stand in massive denial
As united we ignore the pleas of the innocent ones we exterminize
As united we stand inanely pledging allegiance to the flag of facist terrorism

As united we stand, surrendering our freedom to the real 'axis of evil' Corporation, CIA, and Military guise

And THAT is why I believe that music CAN change the world!


That's just *one* song from this CD, so if you could play something from 'Insurgent Sun' at some point, guys, I'd be really over the moon, because Ron's music should be all over the place too, right alongside Bruce, because these two fellas are something more than a bit special and hell, we need them badly!
