Thread Name: BS: Hints for Secret Santas - 2008
Subject: RE: BS: Hints for Sakrete Santas - 2008
1. what is your age range?
It ranges a year at a time, but I'm 60 in December. In spirit, Free-Range like a gourmet organic yard-bird, but older stuff is the range I'm most at home on.

2. gender?
Male. (I guess now I'm on the engendered species list....)

3. Do you have a favorite color?
Blues and greens (A former redhead), but gray hair now gives me a wider range to wear than I used to have.

4. favorite authors?
Mark Twain, Peter Mathiessen, Stephen A Sears Barbara Tuchman, James Lee Burke, David Halberstam, Patrick O'Brian, William Shakespeare.

Type of book?
History, maybe of something local to you. Songbooks or books on traditional music. Nautical history. Humor. A favorite mystery author/detective.

5. what books have you really been wanting?
Have a large overflowing library of them, much like the collection of music, all lovingly referred to as the Library Of Digress, of which I'm The Librarian Incongruous. Surprise me!

6. what type of music do you like? Most types, but Traditional Folk from anywhere (especially your area), blues, old timey string band, field-recordings, Unaccompanied singing, nautical music--all would do best from a fellow Catter. Something that connects somehow to you personally.

7. what CDs have you really been wanting? Something by you, if you record. Something local and dear to you, like your favorite local home-grown folk singer or bar band, which can also include Rock or Jazz or Country if needs be.

8. What movies have you been wanting? DVDs of Folk Performers, Silent comedy (some UK stuff like Lupino Lane, maybe), classic Westerns, 4 Marx Bros. (I have all the ones with the 3 in DVD) Good recent movies that you particularly like. VHS stuff also useable. MUST BE COMPATABLE FOR PLAY IN USA.

9. what is your t-shirt size?
L to XL

10. do you collect anything? if so, what?
Old porcelain enamel advertising signs/thermometers, books, recordings (I have thousands. See above), good obscure songs.

11. what are some of your other hobbies?
None at the moment.

12. do you prefer gold-tone or silver-tone jewelry?
Don't wear any.

13. please include anything else you feel is important that would help your Secret Santa know what you would like.

Things in general indigionous to your area, maybe, if international, with local entertainment schedules, comics pages or crosswords used for the padding.

NO allergies. Edible items specific to your area are fine. Favorite teas or spices are good.

BUT HOWEVER....

Since last year, I have become DIABETIC, so sweets, high-carb items and alchohol-containing items are now OUT! (Sniff, Sniff! Sob, Sob,!)

REMEMBER....

Writing back creatively with good give-and-take when the time of hinting, guessing and teasing comes is an important part of this process and always a wonderful present in itself!

Lasting friendships have been made or cemented in previous years, and I hope the tradition continues.

Thanks in advance!
