Ron, I'm simply saying that you are taking a certain status quo for granted. It has never been replaced in your lifetime and you've become used to it, but it could be replaced by something considerably better. It's foolish to say that it can't be improved upon or replaced. It's downright asinine to think that it's already better than any other possible alternative. I suggest not taking it for granted.

A monkey in a cage cannot truly grasp freedom until he can see beyond the boundaries of the accustomed cage he's living in. But if he's been told all his life that he is free and he doesn't see beyond the cage, then he'll probably believe he's free, won't he? He'll talk about how wonderful it is that he is living free, unlike those other poor monkeys in their cages across the sea.

That is the present condition of the American public. Monkeys in a giant cage, patting themselves on the back because they are so "free", believing their own ancient mythology of liberty and freedom, voting for whatever politician mouths those ancient cliches most convincingly and looks the part of the big Daddy/Mommy figure they are longing for to watch over them and keep them safe...from the other bad monkeys across the sea.

Sad.
