In the hills of Tennessee, that is where I long to be
Where the trees are tall, the roads are rough and rocky
And a little house stands there, rottin' down from lack of care
It's a dream house of this Chicken Of The Sea

There was Stella that I dated, till she made a big mistake
Then she said the two of us, would soon be three
So I packed my bag and left her, joined the Navy, saw the world
Now they call me the Chicken Of The Sea

I dream about her often and the baby that we had
And I long most every hour, just to go back home and see
If we can't start a new life, live the way a man should live
I can't do it, I'm the Chicken Of The Sea

In the lonely ports I'll anchor with it always on my mind
And a baby's cry will tear the heart from me
Is it pride or lack of courage, am I only half a man
And the answer is I'm the Chicken Of The Sea
