I usd to play in a mainstream jazz band many years ago in Brighton, and we booked Humph to play with us. As everyone else in the world has said, he was the perfect gentleman, and a great musician. At one point in the proceedings he turned to me (guitarist) and said, "Right, I'll do a duet with the guitarist, and we'll do "That Sweet Little Girl Of Mine". I hadn't a clue how it went, but he just said, "Bb - usual chord cycle," and off we went. And it went went down a treat, thanks heavens. Other people we played with - no names, no pack drill - could be very snotty indeed, but Humph was the best.
