It's a waste of a perfectly good film to try to cram that story into it. Don't waste your time, it doesn't work. Too many things get changed so it is no longer an epic.
Current campaign sounds more like it should be a Noel Coward play. Or a short story by W. Somerset Maugham, or a minor novel by Hemingway. Or a dark comedy by Woody Allen.
