Whew. I went into sticker shock when I saw the shipping price of the huge box. So I went out at lunch and got two much closer to the actual diameter (but too short) and cobbled them together into one longer box. Almost half as much to ship it. It goes out this afternoon when I pick up my son, and I'll work this evening to cover the couple of hours spent fooling with this box (Flex time is excellent for just this kind of day!)

Later on I'll flatten out the big box and store it in the garage. I had a variety of other pieces of boxes and cardboard to use in the package and those will also get flattened.

I cancelled the Dish Network a while back and I realized this weekend that the black box is still hooked up to everything in the living room. I'll extract it from the AV area and see what I can do about re-connecting the bits (Cable box, DVD, VCR, TV, CD player, receiver, turntable, were all hooked together). Maybe this is the time to move around the cabinet and make it so I can reach the parts more easily in the future (everyone hold up your hand who has ever had to untangle wires to turn every device around and then peer at the plugs with a flashlight to read what they are all for).
