Guest artistes

The gathering is at the Baltic Suite until midnight and has some great artistes lined up.. We have 4 great local groups on The Young'uns 3 young singers with fantastic voices who run their own folk club at the Harbour of Refuge every other Friday. They along with Keepers Fold will be hosting a massive singaround on the Friday night encouraging all singers young and old to get up and sing a song or two. Other local groups are Skyran from Seaton Carew,On the Edge and Copper Fox both from the town. Among the other guests performing are Acoustica from Newcastle who recently played the Gala Theatre in Durham, Coblers Monday a sea shanty group from Whitby, Pegleg Ferret another shanty group but also very humorous. Paul and Wendy Arrowsmith from Kirby Fleetham folk club are performing with their band Blind Summat
Headlining the events on the Saturday are local singer Richie Fletcher with well known folk singer Tom Napper and finally The Hall Brothers from Skipton with their own exciting brand of folk come rock come many other types of guitar playing and singing.
We are running the weekend as hopefully the first of an annual festival if this one goes well. It came about as we travel all over the country to other festivals and thought it would be good for the town to have its own festival and we also hope to involve local people to foster an interest in folk music and culture. We are hoping to keep this one reasonably small with about 100 people at the concerts and a fringe of musicians and singers at The Mooring cafe on Navigation Point on the Saturday evening and also on the MV Ella on Saturday afternoon.
