I don't think that there is much in what you've discribed here in the US. Last & only one I knew of was in Boston (the Boston Traditional Singer's Club) & that closed in the summer of 2001. Of the regulars there was a contractor, professional musician, 2 retirees, a professor, a computer geek. Don't know about the others.
