I poured beer in a couple of shallow bowls in the garden last night and de-cluttered it of a couple of dozen snails. My son was impressed when we headed out to school this morning. He's the one who pointed out they were on the sidewalk during yesterday's rain. If they're on the move it's time to nail them.

It's shifting into cooler nights, time to get have some more covers ready for beds. I have to wash a lot of towels that are piled in the corner after all of the dog baths--I'll be bringing each dog in and giving them a good scrub in the tub now that the worst spreadable part of the smell is off of them.

I've listed a funky collectible plate from 1955 on eBay. The kind of thing you see in the thrift stores, but it is old enough, made at an identifiable Canadian pottery for the Alberta Jubilee, that I thought I'd try it. I have several watchers. Who knew?

The kitchen and dining room have gotten pretty messy again. I haven't taken my bagged newspapers to recycle because I think I'll be using them to lay down on turf soon to establish a new garden area for spring. It's too late to "solarize" because sun through plastic won't cook my sod, but newspaper under compost under plastic might smother out weeds. Or maybe skip the plastic part. Time to take those bags out to the garage to make more room in the house.
