Thread Name: Chords Req: Twisted (from Joni Mitchell)
Subject: Chords Add: TWISTED (Hendricks, Lambert, Ross)
Hi, I got part of the way into "Twisted" (the song, I mean) in a recent guitar lesson. I took me a while to get used to the 13th chord, and the C7/9 is pretty dissonant, but it actually plays fairly easily.

The song was originally done by Lambert, Hendricks and Ross in the '50s or early '60s. If you listen to their recording, you will notice how exactly Joni Mitchell replicates Annie Ross's original vocal.

Try this:
(4 beats to the measure)

E9 / My analyst told me
A13 / that I was right out of my head
E9 / the way he described it
E9 / he said I'd be better off dead than live

A13 / I didn't listen to his jive
A#dim / I knew all along that
E9 / I knew all along
C7/9 / that he was all wrong

F#min / And I knew that he thought
B7 / that I was crazy, but I'm
Not (turn around) E9 / c7/9 / F#min / B7

Good luck,

Jim G.
