Can't exactly say that we're fans of David Lindley. We had a very unpleasant experience with him about twenty years ago.

We were working at a small folk festival and because it was small, we did the workshop scheduling and performed at a concert and several workshops ourselves. By the end of the second day we were exhausted and ready to leave but Lindley was the final act and we volunteered to stick around and help load the sound equipment into the truck.

Not only did he show up late for the gig but he played way longer than he was scheduled for which kept several of us from leaving even though we were tired and hungry. Also, he evidently had given no previous thought to the set list so he rambled around and between songs he did a lot of talking apparently to himself and his instruments. In short, he was rude to the festival promoters, volunteers and the audience.

To be fair, we should mention that he was not paid for this performance but niether were a lot of other people and they weren't rude to anyone.
