That makes good sense. I have one of those big monster freezers--having never had one before and always having to give away my garden produce after my side-by-side filled, I adore it! It isn't energy star, but it cost $30 at an estate sale. The difference between this and a new one is what I'll pay for electricity for quite a while. I love it. It needs to be defrosted so next spring I'll do it before I get into the gardening season again. I'd hate to try to use a freezer half the size for my gardening--this one is perfect and I try to leave a shelf relatively empty so I can slide trays in to freeze things individually (chunks of squash, blueberries, etc.) and then bag them and put them on another shelf later.

I'm learning to do the canning now, and this summer did a few jars of tomato related stuff. Next year, look out world!

Supposed to rain today, but not a problem and good for the garden.
