My biggest ever earworm turned out to be Coimbra by Amalia Rodriguez. This tune was hanging in my memory from the 50s. I fixed it by setting other words to it.
There was a crooked man etc.

It wasn't till a year later and having spread it to hundreds of others that I found out what it was. The next stage was to buy the CD.
