Thread Name: Lyr Req: christening day of a child princess
Subject: Lyr Add: SLEEPING BEAUTY
I was trying to remember this song recently and learnt it in infant school. I think these are the right words. It is Sleeping Beauty but not sure what from.
On the christening day of a child princess, the most beautiful ever seen, Came a party of guests to the palace feast by order of king and queen. Six good fairies danced for her, waved their magic spells, Gave the child their wondrous gift, wished the princess well.
But a wicked old witch they did not invite was angered to prophesy That the tiniest prick on her finger tip would cause the princess to die. One good fairy saved her wish, soothed the royal tears, Gently should that princess child sleep one hundred years.
When the years had passed by, came a handsome prince like dawn on a summer's day, To arouse the princess from her magic dream and make all the castle gay. Violins and oboes played songs from olden times. Sleeping Beauty and her prince danced to wedding chimes.
