Good point, Gurney - storing them on edge and not flat.

Why?

If stacked flat, Vinyl will eventually distort because it's technically still a liquid (just like glass!! Honest!!), and too much weight will permanently compress the grooves of records towards the bottom of the pile, possibly rendering them unplayable. Standing them on end means there's only the weight of the individual record to worry about, so they don't distort.
