When I was sixteen I saw a record named "anthology of the banjo", it was indeed a scientific sample collection of 5string banjo. until then I had fancied Oldtime Jazz and Nashville, but now I discovered american folk for the very first time... joe maphis' "Banjo Breakdown" was wonderful, but a little excerpt from an undescripted tune by david lindley made me nearly cry. I never had heard something so sad and in the same moment so lively like this.

That day I lost my soul to folk. Now I'm playing several instruments by myself, write messages to the mudcat discussion forum and listen to weird stuff sung by old men without teeth that acompany themselves on selfmade fiddles. And all this because of 2 1/2 minutes of David Lindley.
