Beautiful part of the world... especially up around Fort William (Ben Nevis & Glen Nevis)... and Skye...

as for busy.. probably..... July & August are the UK and some of Europe's school holidays.... so people are likely to be on their summer holidays...... but it's still never too busy and there are plenty of places off the beaten track to get away from any crowds....

but you can't get away from the West Highland midgies anywhere......... (hungry little flies.... not as nasty as mosquitoes.. but very persistant)

Bed and breakfasts are always reasonable (if you stay away from big hotels).... and you save money because the breakfasts are so huge that you won't need lunch....
