Fully agreed kat. My discomfort with the situation is the length of gestation. The PBA is a serious, invasive SURGERY. Not intending to dumb it down, but there are 'in' holes, and there are 'out' holes. You stick to that biological principle, and things generally work out okay. The cervix is most definately an 'out' hole. When is gets stretched and opened, it is to allow a child to pass into the birth canal. When a doctor stretches it with the intent of putting instrumentation into the uterus, you run the risk of pyometra, septicemia, and a host of other illnesses that with careful planning before-hand need never happen.
I am supportive of the RU486. The 'morning afters' that supress ovulation, and make the uterus inhospitable are far more humane and responsible than waiting. But once again it comes down to education and support, and living with laws that are made by people who will never feel the consequences.
