I know it may not be de rigueur to mention the old folk rockers themselves but Steeleye Span can sometimes lean toward the more metalic. Anyone herad 'Bonny Black Hare' of the 'Bloody Men' album for instance? Lots of earlier stuff with Mr Carthy giving pound for pound with some of the heaviest as well:-)
