Well, Jeez, Kendall -- you didn't have enough going on already? You had to go out and get ANOTHER ailment? Boy, some people are never satisfied...

Anyhow, presumably the previous posters have by now convinced you that this is not the end of the world. Just a pain in the ass. If they put you on medication it will probably take a while to get the dosage stabilized, and that's a drag, since as LilyFestre notes above, lows can come on fast and strong. Just have something with you all the time to counteract it, and you'll be OK.

The only other help I can offer is to tell you that the cookbooks published by the American Diabetes Association/American Dietetic Association are VERY good. Some years ago my ex was diagnosed with type II, and I went and bought three of their cookbooks. They have some really great recipes (several of which I still use) and they include all the exchanges, etc. Remember those crabcakes we had when you came to see us in Sebago this summer? Those came from a diabetes cookbook (though I think the portions might have been a bit smaller...) I gave the books away a couple of years ago to another friend, or I'd send 'em right off to you, but I'm willing to bet your local library has them. The dietician will give you lots of good advice, no doubt, but you and Jacqui will have to figure out what works best for YOU, and those cookbooks could help.

Hang in there, Darlin' -- we're all behind you!

Love to both of you,

Nancy
