Coincidentally, last Sunday there was a broadcast of ABC Radio National ("Hindsight") on the "Captive white woman of Gippsland", where references to the activities of Scottish and other settlers abound.

While Bob's The "warragul" spelling may well be the local variant - but the Nomenclature Board seem to have elected to use the 'standard' spelling on official maps may well be the go in NSW, the South Gippsland usage when I grew up in Korumburra was always "Warragul" as the name of the town on the Princes Highway and was also the usual name for those we now know as the Kurnai.
