Definitely NOT what you're looking for, but when you look for free/inexpensive software you might be interested in what features the "full-feature" programs have, for comparison.

Although intended for more general business account management, at least some of these programs should have the sort of trend-tracking and current-status data features you need.

The article doesn't specifically describe stock tracking, but inventory tracking and open-account tracking features are much the same. With names to put with who sells the better(?) accounting software, you may find a "smaller package" even more specific to your needs from one of them, althuogh you're unlikely to find "freeware" from any of them. Also note that the four products listed are by no means a complete list of what's available - just what lots of people do use.
