This is a tough one. Too many sentimental favorite AND too many wonderful CD's. Everyone should have a copy of each in their library - they are that good!!

I think it will come down to Pete Seeger or Kathy Mattea.   Personally I think they are the strongest recordings of the bunch - each cut fits in the context of the album and collectively make for a superb recording.

I think Pete Seeger's CD was brilliantly produced by David Bernz and he created an epic - perhaps the best recording of Seegers illustrious career - and there are many good choices from his discography.

I think Kathy Mattea's project was ambitious and it works. It is very difficult for someone with such a stunning voice to make these songs sound real, but there is increcible connections that come through.

The contemporary songwriters in the Folk catagory are also superb this year. Good job!
