I had to get used to working without a strap because of all the video work I was doing - but it is a good idea to use one in the beginning. A guitar strap will work just fine.

I always push the people who get tips from me to learn how to teach so you should be able to meet up with somebody who can help you over the rough spots - and the cool thing is that you could help some of them with the squeezebox.
