In 2008 I made an attempt to sing 25 Stan Roger's songs in singarounds (song circles). This was in memory of the 25 years since his death.

I'd never heard of Stan Rogers until 4 years ago when I started noticing his name cropping up as the writers of a song or two every week at singarounds here in England. It is amazing he has had such an impact on English singers, yet he never visited here.

Given I'd only ever tried a couple of his songs before this it was hard work, and I got sidetracked towards the end of the year so only managed 18. If I can make the time I'll finish off the other 7 before the anniversary of his death in June.

I was amazed by the variety of songs, styles, subject matter. Even more amazing was his perception of the world as seen from 50, 60, 70 years olds when he was in his twenties.
