UK 'Cats ony really, but if any of you find yourselves in the vicinity of the touring version of Alan Plater's Blonde Bombshells of 1943, See it!
It bears little resemblance to the Judy Dench vehicle of similar name on the TV, being largely a rehearsal/recruitment session for a wartime all girls band hoping for a BBC contract.
The four turning up for auditions are a schoolgirl, a nun, a WAAF, and a feller who will be quite happy to wear a frock to keep out of the army! If you can imagine a nun in full habit singing in a fairly good northern accent to her own ukulele accompaniment 'In My Little Snap-shot Album' you will get the level of the humour.
The bonus, though is a good all girls band in the last act playing '40's Swing and some good 'Andrews Sisters' vocalising.
The show has just left Manchester and is on tour until April. Dates at www.blondebombshells.info.
Cast includes Spike Milligan's daughter, Jane.
