My two guitars have names based on their characteristics and puns from well-known songs; in each case the apt name gave rise to the gender, rather than the reverse. So one is male, one female.

The mandolins, as yet, have no names or genders. (And neither will be named 'Amandalynne' as a poster at another site suggested!)
