It's not the thickness of hte finisht that's important.. well it is, but that's not what I'm on about.. the satin finish on my seagulls allow the wood to continue to age and so the sound improves over time.. with most guitars, the high gloss finish 'freezes' the surface of the face, so the tone never has a chance to 'mellow' with age... And that's the kind of sound I prefer...
