Thread Name: Lyr/Chords Req: Over the Water to Charlie
Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Over the Water to Charlie
I sang a variant on the verse 4, above :

(I have and had no right to speak, or sing, in Scots, so please excuse the fact that I might set it forth in English) :

G            Em             C          D
I once had sons, but now have none -
G          Em               C   G
I bore them greeting sairlie.
G               Em             C    D
But I would bear them o'er again
G             D               C    G
And lose them all for Charlie.

I learned this from the singing of Ray Fisher, on an album (the name of which escapes me - an age thing, I suspect) entirely of Jacobite songs and tunes. There was an instrumental version of the tune to

'Over the Water to Charlie', in 6/8 time.

There is a Morris dance, Bledington Tradition IIRC, of the same name.
